VAPOUR PRESSURE TESTER

ASTM D5191; IP 394; pr EN13016-1; ASTM D5188; IP 409; pr EN13016-2; ASTM D5482; EN228; ES15(Obs); ASTM D323 (correlation); D2533 (correlation); D4814; D4953 (correlation)

A compact bench-top instrument for measuring vapour pressure of low viscosity petroleum products and crude oils by mini methods.

Capable of more than 5 determinations per hour.

Tests can be performed at various preset temperatures between 30 and 120C and at various vapour to liquid ratios with vapour pressures up to 500kPa.

The 'dry' method of test removes all moisture from the test chamber prior to injection of the sample. This overcomes the unpredictability of results experienced when testing samples containing oxygenates by the conventional Reid Method.

Typically vapour pressure determinations are carried out at 37.8C with a vapour to liquid ratio of 4:1. 3ml of sample is injected by means of a gas-tight syringe, through a vacuum septum into an evacuated 15ml temperature controlled chamber.

With a 20:1 V/L ratio, the sample temperature which gives 101.3kPa (atmospheric pressure) in the test chamber can be manually determined in accordance with ASTM D5188. Results correlate with D2533.

Two displays show temperature and pressure, and an integral fan cools the test chamber between tests when required. Control valves apply vacuum, isolate and drain the chamber.

Results can be converted to an equivalent Reid Vapour Pressure (RVP) using the Dry Reid Vapour Pressure Equivalent (DVPE) equation.

The optional Data Processor allows test results to be printed or transferred to an external computer via an RS232 connection.

Supplied with 5ml syringe and 3 needles and septum.
