Mastrad Medium Duty Tension Testers - to 25kN

Mastrad Medium Duty Fixing Testers enable engineers to confirm the holding power of anchors in most construction materials, either for the purpose of establishing safe working loads or to validate the correct installation of existing fixings. The tensile load of up to 25kN is applied to the fixing mechanically and hydraulics are used to register the load through an accurate analog gauge, making the tester very reliable.

The choice of 5 gauge capacities means the precision of readings can be optimised for each application. Load spreading bridges and the pyramid stool keep reaction loads away from the fixing. Fixings up to M16 may be located directly in the tester, while a variety of adaptors enable a wide range of other types and sizes to be tested.

Available as a standard kit with 1 gauge or a master kit with 2 (or more) interchangeable gauges.

 Mastrad 2000 Series Tester

Improved version of the Mastrad Medium Duty Tester, which is the industry standard for all site fixing tests.

The 2000 series has been designed offering

Standard pulling stroke: 50mm
Optional pulling stroke: 100mm
Facility to rotate pulling jaw through 360 in relation to grip handle for improved access in confined spaces
Automatic return for pulling jaw

The increase stroke of the 2000 series tester gives the following benefits

Complete extraction of most fixings after failure in one simple operation
When fixings are tested to failure they usually need to be fully extracted from the base material. The 50mm stroke of the 2000 series means this can be done without any readjustment of the bridge legs.
The 100mm (optional) stroke version is ideal for frame anchors.
Faster set up time on multiple testing projects
Initial adjustment of the tester height relative to the fixing can now be achieved with the loading handle rather than the bridge legs
Unrivalled versatility

A wide range of well proven accessories enables virtually any type of fixing to be tested. Five different bridges are available to direct reaction loads into the base material and away from the fixing.
Over fifteen general purpose and special adaptors can be used to link with the fixing. See separate accessory sheet.
Special adaptors can be made for new applications.

Reaction Load Spreading

To test fixings correctly, the reaction loads must be taken into the structure well away from the fixing. In brickwork, this can be achieved using either the 150 load spreading bridge, the 250 load spreading bridge, or pyramid stool. Prescribed reaction distances are given for concrete in BS 5080.

Tensile Loads - tests to ultimate loads
, while the more practical requirements of the Construction Fixings Association - guidance note: Procedure for site testing construction fixings covers proof loads as well.
